Senator Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, has highlighted a concerning issue regarding education infrastructure in the state, stating that over 1,500 schools in the eight frontline local government areas lack proper fencing.

Addressing stakeholders from all 23 local government areas, Governor Sani emphasized the urgent need to address this issue, especially in light of recent security challenges. He underscored the importance of education, referring to it as the greatest enabler, and reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing the Safe School Initiative.

To address this critical issue, Governor Sani announced that prominent Kaduna-based business leaders, including Alhaji Adamu Atta of Fifth Chucker and Alhaji Bukar Shettima of Barbados, have pledged to build fences for 100 schools. This initiative aims to enhance the safety and security of students and staff in these educational institutions.

The governor referenced a recent incident in Kuriga where approximately 137 children were kidnapped, which prompted a comprehensive assessment of schools across the state. The findings revealed the dire need for fencing in numerous primary and junior secondary schools.

In addition to education, Governor Sani emphasized security as a top priority for his administration. He commended the efforts of the service chiefs, particularly the establishment of a military base in Kachia, which reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing security measures in the state.
