Troops of the Nigerian Army have conducted successful operations in Taraba and Benue states, resulting in the arrest of a gun-running syndicate and the prevention of a kidnapping attempt.

According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, troops, in collaboration with vigilantes, acted on credible intelligence to apprehend Mansir Mohammed at Jalingo Motor Park in Taraba State. Mohammed was reportedly involved in gun-running activities with terrorists. His arrest led to the capture of other syndicate members and the recovery of weapons, including a Semi-Automatic Pump Action gun, a locally fabricated gun, and other items.

Furthermore, soldiers on routine patrol at Miyande Village in Takum Local Government Area intercepted two terrorist suspects who had concealed an automatic rifle under the seat of a motorbike. An AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and a motorcycle were seized during the operation.

In a separate incident in Benue State, troops responded to a distress call regarding a kidnapping attempt in Zaki-Biam Town. During the intervention, one kidnapper was neutralized in a shootout, and a Beretta pistol with ammunition was recovered.

These operations demonstrate the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining security and combating criminal activities in the region.
