Akwa Ibom man kills 70-year-old mother

In Akwa Ibom, one Inyangake James Peter has allegedly killed his 70-year-old mother, Mma-Offiong James Peter.

According to the police in the southern state, the incident happened in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, on Monday, the police disclosed that the 40-year-old suspect has since been arrested.

According to the statement, the suspect, who was arrested by the police on April 4, 2024, at about 9:00 am, said he acted based on a voice which kept urging him to kill her.

The statement read: “The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Inyangake James Peter, 40 years old for gruesomely murdering his biological mother, one Mma-Offiong James Peter, about 70 years old on 4/4/2024 at about 9:00 am at Ikpe Annang Village in Etim Ekpo LGA.

“The suspect, who confessed to the crime has been transferred to the state CID for discrete investigation.

“The suspect on interrogation alleged that he had a voice saying ‘kill her’, ‘kill her’, and he decided to oblige,”

In related development, a man believed to be in his 60s on Saturday killed his 100-year-old mother in Osun State.

The suspect allegedly killed his mother after an argument on who should collect the procceds of the palm oil seed a labourer helped them to sell.
