- Ondo State government warns against disrupting peace under Yoruba Nation advocacy, vows firm action, supports federal government efforts
- Special Adviser Omole emphasizes commitment to state’s peace, vows to apprehend anyone opposing federal government within Ondo
The Ondo State government has issued a stern warning, declaring its intent to take firm action against individuals attempting to disrupt peace within the state under the guise of advocating for the Yoruba Nation.
The declaration follows a recent incident where separatist Yoruba Nation agitators, clad in army attire and wielding firearms, made an unsuccessful attempt to seize control of the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan. Security forces intervened, thwarting their efforts to hoist their flag at the Oyo State House of Assembly premises.
Speaking on Monday, Olugbenga Omole, the Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Information, emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving the prevailing peace and harmony enjoyed by the state’s residents.
“We will not condone any action that threatens the tranquility of our state,” Omole stated. He further asserted the government’s stance against any individual or group opposing the efforts of the federal government.
“We will apprehend them within Ondo. We will not lend support to anyone working against the federal government,” he affirmed.
