Police Arrest Driver Over ‘Unlawful Possession’ Of Two Pistols In Lagos

The spokesperson said that investigation into the case was ongoing.

The police command in Lagos says its operatives have arrested a driver, identified as Azeez Babatunde, over alleged unlawful possession of two locally-made pistols in the Maroko area of the state.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest on Thursday.

Hundeyin said that the officers on patrol arrested the suspect while his accomplices escaped.

He added that two locally-made pistols, two unexpended cartridges and a knife were recovered while searching the vehicle.

“At about 5:00 a.m., anti-crime patrol officers from Maroko Division noticed a minibus do a quick U-turn upon sighting them on Hakeem Dickson Street,” Hundeyin wrote on X.

“The officers went in pursuit, but six persons jumped out of the vehicle, running in different directions.

“The officers caught up with the vehicle and arrested the only person left in the vehicle, the driver, Babatunde.

The command’s spokesperson added that investigation into the case was ongoing.
