The Lagos police command announced that its officers have seized 30 sacks of substances believed to be Indian hemp at a jetty in the Ojo area.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, reported that the Ijanikin tactical squad intercepted the substances early Wednesday morning around 4:30 am during a patrol in the Ajangbadi area.
The operatives followed a white Mercedes Benz mini truck to the Ilufe Waterside Jetty at Alaba International, Ojo, where they found the substances being unloaded from a flying boat.
Hundeyin added that the driver was arrested and investigations are underway to capture other members of the gang.
“One suspect —43, name withheld, alleged to be the driver of the truck, was arrested. A total of 1,040 wraps of substances suspected to be Indian Hemp in 30 sacks were recovered,” Hundeyin said.
“The suspect alleged that one man, simply identified as Ifeanyi, contacted him to convey the substances from Waterside Jetty to Alaba International Market, Ojo, in Lagos.
“Investigation is ongoing and effort is on to track and arrest the said Ifeanyi.”
