Vice President Kashim Shettima has lauded the invaluable contributions of academics towards national unity, asserting that a more secure and prosperous nation can be achieved through their endeavours.

Speaking at the public presentation of two books authored by Prof Abdullahi Shehu, titled “Boko Haram and Other Security Challenges in Nigeria: Issues and Options for Policy” and “Reflections on the 2023 General Elections,” Shettima, represented by Dr. Aliyu Moddibo, Special Adviser to the President on General Duties, underscored the significance of intellectual inquiry and data-driven analysis in shaping a better future.

He emphasized the need for these works to transcend mere literary exercises and be instrumental in guiding policies to safeguard lives and property. Shettima urged stakeholders to embrace the insights provided by Prof Shehu’s books, viewing them as essential resources for fostering national cohesion and progress.

General Yakubu Gowon, former head of state, also hailed the books for their insightful contributions, particularly in analyzing the dynamics of the 2023 general elections. He expressed optimism that the recommendations outlined in the books would inform necessary reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and governance.

In his remarks, Prof Abdullahi Shehu expressed gratitude to the leaders and attendees and pledged that the proceeds from the book launch would be utilized for humanitarian purposes, particularly to support those affected by the country’s insecurity challenges.
