Former Chief of Defence Staff General Theophilus Y. Danjuma (rtd) has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s security challenges, asserting that they have brought disgrace upon the nation and made it a subject of ridicule on the global stage.
At the annual Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival in Ibbi Local Government Area of Taraba State, General Danjuma emphasized the urgent need for decisive action to address the prevailing security issues.
He stressed that Nigeria’s authorities must swiftly embark on measures to restore the country’s tarnished reputation by effectively tackling the security challenges plaguing the nation.
General Danjuma highlighted the detrimental impact of insecurity on Nigeria’s image, noting that potential investors and tourists would be deterred from engaging with the country if their safety cannot be guaranteed.
He underscored the importance of concerted efforts in placing “the right pegs in the right holes,” emphasizing the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in addressing the security crisis.
Moreover, General Danjuma lamented the dire state of security nationwide, emphasizing the imperative for immediate government intervention.
He urged authorities to prioritize ensuring the safety of all Nigerians, both citizens and foreigners, as a prerequisite for attracting investments and fostering national development.
In his remarks at the event, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State pledged his administration’s commitment to enhancing collaboration between Adamawa and Taraba State Governments, emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation in addressing shared challenges.
