The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved the upgrade of 12 additional Band A feeders for the Kaduna Electric Distribution Company (KAEDC).
According to a statement released yesterday, KAEDC highlighted that the upgrade includes one 11kV feeder and 11 33kV feeders, bringing the total number of Band A feeders operated by the company to 37, up from the previous 25.
“Since April 1, all Band A feeders within Kaduna Electric’s coverage area in Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi have been enjoying a minimum of 20 hours of electricity supply daily,” the statement added.
The company further stated that NERC’s order issued on April 19, 2024, approved the classification of additional feeders as Band A, in response to KAEDC’s request.
The newly approved Band A feeders include the 11kV Commercial feeder in Kaduna and the 33kV Fadama 1 and Fadama 2 feeders in Birnin Kebbi. Other approved feeders are located in Kaduna, Zaria, and Gusau.
Sadiq Mohammed, the Chief Operating Officer of Kaduna Electric, welcomed the approval, expressing that it signifies the company’s commitment to ensuring adequate power supply to its Band A feeders.
