- Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, refutes media reports falsely attributing to him a call for the arrest of former governors
- Ozekhome denies making such remarks and emphasizes his commitment to principles of human rights, due process, and democracy
Nigeria’s Senior Advocate, Mike Ozekhome, has refuted media reports that he called for the arrest of former governors Abdulaziz Yari and Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State.
In a statement released on Sunday, Ozekhome clarified that he did not author the story “Why has EFCC not arrested Yari and Mattawale Bello despite similar court order?” published by an online platform.
He vehemently denied making such remarks, stating, “I did not, never did, nor will I ever contemplate spewing out such odious inanity and banal statement devoid of common sense and reasoning.”
Ozekhome expressed incredulity at being associated with such statements, particularly considering his longstanding association with Matawalle as a friend and lawyer.
Over the past four decades, he has emphasized his commitment to principles of human rights, due process, democracy, and good governance, denouncing any suggestion of meddling in sub judice matters or engaging in media trials.
The legal luminary categorically disowned the attributed write-up, urging the public to disregard its contents as false, baseless, and unfounded. He dismissed the statements as the product of “faceless idle internet crawlers” and urged for their dismissal as mere hallucinations.
