Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has indicated his preference for a successor in the 2027 governorship race, stating that he will only support candidates below 52.
Makinde announced this during the Debo Ogundoyin Students’ Legislative Summit at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan. He encouraged youths to pursue their dreams, using his own journey as an example.
Emphasizing his stance on age criteria, the governor stated that he would not endorse any candidate above the age of 52 for the governorship position in Oyo State.
Reflecting on his own assumption of office at the age of 51, Makinde highlighted that despite skepticism, he successfully assumed the governorship role. He expressed determination to support younger candidates for future leadership positions.
Furthermore, Makinde pledged his commitment to empowering Nigerian youths, emphasizing the importance of preparing them for the future. He affirmed his administration’s dedication to the welfare of Oyo State students, assuring them of the impending disbursement of bursary awards.
