The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has taken enforcement action against several churches, hotels, and bars, sealing off their premises for non-compliance with environmental regulations.
The agency announced on Friday that the move was aimed at tackling noise pollution and other environmental infractions.
The enforcement operation, carried out on Friday, targeted areas including Ifako-Ijaiye, Abule-Egba Alagbado, Command, Abesan Estate, and Dopemu, resulting in the closure of the offending establishments.
“Among the affected establishments are the Catholic Church, Seventh Heaven Bar & Lounge, 1602 Hotel, Lourita Hotel & Suites, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, God’s Porch Ministries, White Pavilion Hotel, Quest Hotel & Suites, Honey Comb Confectioners Ltd, and Excel Hotel & Suite,” it said in a statement.
The establishments have been temporarily closed to compel compliance with environmental regulations, it added.
LASEPA emphasised the importance of businesses adhering to environmental standards.
LASEPA had sealed nine hotels and a company over noise pollution and other environmental violations.
The environmental protection agency said the nine facilities were closed down to safeguard the environment from pollution and other violations in the state.
