The ruling All Progressives Congress will confer Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the winner of the Ondo governorship primary election, with his certificate of return on Monday.
According to the party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Duru, the presentation will occur at the national secretariat in Abuja.
However, Duru did not specify whether it will precede, coincide with, or follow the National Working Committee meeting scheduled for Monday.
This development follows three days after Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC, urged aggrieved aspirants from the shadow poll to support the governor, aiming for a unified front leading up to the November 16 governorship election.
Aiyedatiwa emerged as the winner per the declaration of the Governor Usman Ododo-led Primary Election Committee on Sunday, following the poll conducted across all 18 local government areas of the state. Nevertheless, the result faced challenges due to allegations of irregularities and violence in certain polling units.
As a result, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South Senatorial District, along with five other aspirants, filed petitions contesting Aiyedatiwa’s victory.
Others were Olusola Oke, Folakemi Omogoroye, Olugbenga Edema, Jimi Odimayo, and Wale Akinterinwa.
They also demanded the cancellation of the governorship primary and the conduct of a fresh primary.
