Many killed as armed herders attack Enugu community


Suspected Fulani herdsman who are wreaking havoc in the south east region of the country have struck again.

The armed herders attacked Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State leaving in their wake death, destruction and anguish.

It is gathered that many locals sustained varying degrees of severe and life-threatening injuries during the Sunday evening attack.

The herders attacked mourners at Ugwuijoro Nimbo community, according to Daily Post.

Some of those killed were identified as Okeh Simon Ugwu Oruku, Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea.

The residents of the community have since fled the area leaving it deserted and desolute.

In a viral video, a voice was heard narrating the attack and the ordeal of the people.

According to the weeping local, the invaders took the villagers by surprise and shot sporadically at the mourners.

Tables and chairs could be seen chaotically strewn around in the compound where the mourners had gathered, with lifeless villagers also seen in the pool of their blood.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu State Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe is yet to respond to an enquiry sent by DAILY POST on the latest attack
