The Edo State chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) welcomed a significant influx of members from the Labour Party (LP) who switched to the AAC over the weekend in anticipation of the forthcoming September 21 governorship election in the state.

Dr. Udoh Oberaifo, the AAC’s gubernatorial candidate, expressed his appreciation while receiving the defectors into the party’s fold. He also took the opportunity to introduce Sir Lord Osunde as his running mate, an esteemed figure and former leader of the Obedient Movement in Edo who had previously aligned himself with the AAC.

Oberaifo highlighted Osunde’s notable contributions and emphasized his pivotal role in orchestrating the monumental two million-man walk in Edo under the banner of the Labour Party. Osunde’s decision to join forces with the AAC and his substantial following across the state’s three senatorial districts signifies a significant boost to the party’s campaign.

Speaking on his vision for Edo State, Oberaifo reiterated his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the people, advocating for effective leadership, fresh perspectives, innovation, and transparent governance.

“If entrusted with leadership, my administration will champion the interests of the people, foster good governance, and usher in a new era of progress and prosperity for the people of Edo,” Oberaifo affirmed.
