  • Aboh Mbaise PDP refutes alleged defections claimed by former House of Rep. Deputy Speaker Ihedioha’s domestic staff
  • Party clarifies Ihedioha’s departure, citing failure to dissolve PDP’s National Working Committee, denouncing reported mass defections

The leadership of the Aboh Mbaise chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted what it labels as “alleged defection assertions” by individuals identified as the domestic staff of former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker, Chief Emeka Ihedioha.

Sir Maxwell Nnabuihe, Chairman of the Aboh Mbaise PDP, issued a statement dismissing claims circulating on social media purportedly made by Ihedioha’s domestic staff. The statement emphasized that the reported defections did not significantly impact the party’s presence in Aboh Mbaise, Ihedioha’s hometown.

Clarifying the circumstances surrounding Ihedioha’s departure from the party, the chapter clarified that he was ousted due to his failure to sway the National Executive Committee (NEC) to dissolve the National Working Committee of the PDP.

The statement highlighted that the individuals who resigned from the party in Aboh Mbaise were primarily political opportunists and Ihedioha’s domestic staff. It questioned the credibility of claims suggesting a mass exodus from the party when prominent figures such as Chief Mike Ahamba (SAN), Rt. Hon. Mike Iheanetu, Chief Anamelechi Aguwa, Hon. Ugochukwu Amuchie, Hon. Arthur Ugochukwu, Hon. Dumebi Nwachukwu, and others remain steadfast members.

Asserting the party’s resilience, the Aboh Mbaise PDP emphasized that no significant defections occurred, viewing Ihedioha’s departure and his associates as an opportunity for former members who had left due to his dominant influence to return.

The public was urged to disregard what was described as “Ihedioha’s propaganda machinery,” with a focus on retiring him from active politics and reclaiming power for the PDP at all levels of government.

Looking ahead, the party pledged to unveil its blueprint for fostering unity and prosperity within the Aboh Mbaise PDP, signaling a steadfast commitment to its objectives.
