A ghastly road accident in Lagos State has left at least three persons dead.

Six other persons were also said to have
sustained varying degrees of injury in the road crash.

The mishap, which was reportedly as a result of over speeding, occurred at the Mile 12 Bridge on Tuesday at about 7:10 p.m.

An X user with the handle @tinytuneofficial gave a lowdown of the incident on her page.

In a tweet on her X page, she stated that a trailer with a brake failure rammed into the commuters on the bridge, which resulted in the death of the individuals.

She added that police officers from the Ketu Division took charge of the situation.

She wrote, “Incident time is 06:25; the accident was fatal. An articulated trailer with brake failure hit the commuters at the top of the Mile 12 Bridge inward Owode, leaving five corpses on the ground.

“The make of the vehicle is Mack reg number: KTU 973 XX. Action taken: police officers from Ketu Division have been contacted. The police at Ketu were contacted, and they did the needful.”

The Federal Roads Safety Commission Lagos Sector Commander, Babatunde Farinloye, confirmed the incident to newsmen.

Farinloye stated that the accident occurred as a result of a Volkswagen commercial vehicle colliding with an unidentified truck on the bridge.

He added that 14 individuals were involved, noting that three people died while six sustained varying degrees of injury.

“There was an accident around 19:10 around Maryland, Ikorodu, on the Mile 12 Bridge. It was a result of speeding. Fourteen people were involved. The truck registration numbers are yet to be known.

“An unknown truck collided with a Volkswagen commercial car, injuring six and killing three people. It was a fatal car and a multiple accident.”
