- NSCDC in Kano intercepts tanker loaded with PMS suspected of diversion, headed to undisclosed destination in neighboring state
- Over 50 suspected criminals arrested in Bachirawa Kwanar Ungogo scrap market for vandalism, theft, and drug dealing
In response to the ongoing scarcity of petroleum products, the anti-vandalism unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State Command intercepted a tanker loaded with premium motor spirit (PMS) along Ibrahim Taiwo road in the municipality.
The command’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, disclosed that the tanker was discovered to be carrying approximately 20,000 litres of PMS suspected to have been diverted from a filling station in Kano. It was headed to an undisclosed destination in the neighbouring state of Katsina.
Abdullahi stated, “An investigation is underway, and upon conclusion, the petroleum product will be returned and offloaded at the original designated filling station in Kano. Legal action will be taken against the offenders.”
Additionally, prompted by complaints from traders at the scrap market located in Bachirawa Kwanar Ungogo, Ungogo Local Government Area, regarding miscreants terrorizing the market through vandalism of public assets, theft of individuals’ property, and involvement in illicit drug dealings, a joint operation was initiated.
This operation, carried out by NSCDC personnel from the armed squad unit and vigilantes, arrested over fifty (50) suspected criminals in the market.
“The command has launched an investigation into the matter, and upon completion, the suspects will be prosecuted,” Abdullahi assured.
