Former Nigerian Ambassador to Mexico and Canada, Prof Iorwuese Hagher, has officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ranks, bidding farewell to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Hagher formally joined the APC at his Utange Ward in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, where the APC Ward Chairman, Orduuga Tyokegh, received him.
Explaining his decision to switch parties, Hagher clarified that his defection was not driven by personal interests or a quest for political favour. Instead, he expressed his intention to support Senator George Akume, a prominent figure in Benue State politics and the leader of the APC.
Hagher emphasized his desire to assist Akume, who holds significant influence within the APC and previously served as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). He stressed the importance of local politics and cited the historical voting patterns of the Shitile people, his constituency, who have traditionally aligned with the APC.
In joining the APC, Hagher signalled his commitment to contributing to the party’s agenda and supporting its leadership, particularly in his local community. His decision reflects a strategic move to align himself with the prevailing political landscape while reaffirming his dedication to serving the interests of his constituents.
