One Johnbull Osagiede has been killed by his abductors in Nigeria’s southern State of Edo.
The victim was killed after his family paid a ransom of N9 million to the kidnappers.
It’s gathered that the incident happened at Evbohen quarters in Idumebo community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the State.
The deceased was reportedly kidnapped last Tuesday after the gunmen invaded the community and took him to an unknown destination.
A family source said the kidnappers reached out to the the wife of the deceased and demanded a N15 million ransom.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the family initially paid N3 million to the kidnappers and later N6 million, bringing the total amount paid to N9 million.
He said the ransom was paid to the kidnappers at designated locations.
He, however, wondered why the kidnappers killed him after collecting the ransom.
“Johnbull Osagiede’s dead body was found by the community vigilante, who discovered the corpse dumped at Pipeline Road near Iguelaba community in the locality,” he said.
He said the incident had been reported to the Ugo Police Division by the community.
However, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, is yet to issue a statement on the matter.
