Ogagbe, originally from Delta State, committed the crime in 2022 in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Chief Magistrate Rita Oguguo, in her judgment, cited the Child Rights Act, stating that the prosecution successfully proved the case of defilement against Ogagbe.
Chief Magistrate Oguguo consequently sentenced him to 16 years imprisonment without the option of a fine.
Rape and defilement of minors have become rampant in many Nigerian States in recent years.
Last week, a landlord simply identified as Adesina allegedly defiled and impregnates his tenant’s daughter in Ogun State.
The incident happened on Akegbeyale Street in Ifesowapo Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the State.
The landlord have since been arrested by the police operatives from Ajuwon Divisional Headquarters.
The State Police Command Spokesman, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, saying the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
