Kano Mosque Attack

Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi visited victims of the recent Kano mosque arson. Upon arriving in Kano on Sunday, he went straight from Malam Aminu Kano International Airport to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where some victims are being treated.

Obi condemned the attack, calling it horrific and sad. He expressed disbelief that someone could commit such an act against their family and society. Obi stated, “We stand in solidarity condemning this act. My visit here shows support for the victims and the hospital’s efforts. This violent act is senseless and must be condemned.”

He offered condolences to the government and people of Kano, urging all Nigerians to unite against such violence.

The incident occurred due to a family dispute over inheritance in Larabar-Albasawa, Gezawa LGA. The arsonist, Shafiu Abubakar, set a mosque on fire during early morning prayers. He sprayed petroleum, locked the door, and trapped about 40 worshippers inside.
