Kogi governor allocates 100 hectares of land to FG for ‘renewed hope’ housing estate

The Kogi state Renewed Hope City is to be located on a 100 hectares of land off the Lokoja-Okene road in Zariagi.

Usman Ododo, governor of Kogi, has allocated 100 hectares of land in the state for the construction of a 1000-unit housing estate.

The proposed housing estate is part of the initiative of the renewed hope housing programme of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

On Wednesday, the management of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) led by Ayotunde Ojo, its managing director, visited Ododo in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.

In a statement, Ismaila Isah, Ododo’s special adviser on media, quoted the governor to have said the essence of the meeting is to finalise for the renewed hope housing project.

The Kogi governor said his administration is committed towards the renewed hope agenda of Tinubu.

“As a state that borders nine other states and the FCT, our population growth and the effect of urbanization and migration to the state from neighbouring states and the FCT for social and economic reasons has significantly impacted housing needs in Kogi state,” Ododo said.

“It will be the most strategic choice for the FHA through the Renewed Hope Housing Project of Mr President to consider Kogi State as a prime location for the Renewed Hope City.

“Kogi State is hereby allocating 100 hectares of land to the Federal Housing Authority to commence the building of the Renewed Hope City with full compensation paid by the government.

Ododo commended Tinubu for finding Kogi worthy of consideration, noting that the development aligns with his campaign objectives.

He assured FHA of all necessary support to ensure the successful implementation of “renewed hope city” in the state.

Taiye Abanika, Kogi commissioner for housing and urban development, said the agency’s visit will accelerate the state’s participation in the housing project.

On his part, Ojo described his visit to Kogi as a homecoming due to his ancestral connection with the state capital.

The managing director commended Ododo for prioritising workers welfare and ensuring security, pledging to mobilize resources for the construction of renewed hope city in the state.

The Kogi state renewed hope city is expected to be established on a 100 hectare plot of land near the Lokoja-Okene road in Zariagi.
