Ministerial Briefing: Nigeria has fully embraced community policing — Ibrahim Gaidam

Gaidam was one of the ministers who appeared before the media on the second day of the ministerial sectoral updates


The Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, has presented his achievements over the past nine months, aligning with the one-year anniversary of the Tinubu Administration.

Gaidem spoke on Friday at ministerial sectoral updates in Abuja.

The Minister highlighted the Nigeria Police Force’s collaborative efforts to develop a revitalized agenda and transformation roadmap, focusing on modernization, efficiency, and proactive policing.

Key areas of focus include infrastructure development, technical efficiency, welfare enhancement, policy framework, and officer wellness.

The ministry has strengthened community policing, public trust, and rebranding efforts. Notable achievements include the establishment of the National Criminal Data Fusion Center, automation of specialized services, and the launch of the Special Intervention Squad.

The ministry has also promoted 3,071 education officers within the police education system, ranging from salary grade levels 17 down to Level 07, who were owed arrears for over five years.

Additionally, the Police Pension Bill is currently under review to enhance the welfare of police officers.

Under his leadership, the Nigeria Police Veterans Foundation, which supports retired police officers, has been established.
