Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, has returned to the ancient city after being dethroned on Thursday.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)-controlled house had repealed a 2019 emirate law, leading to his ousting.
However, in a surprise move, Kano Governor Abba Yusuf reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi as Emir on Friday at a ceremony at Government House.
Bayero’s whereabouts had been unknown since the events leading to his dethronement unfolded earlier this week.
However, his aircraft arrived at Aminu Kano International Airport at around 4:30 am, and he was greeted by his supporters.
They chanted a verse from Surah Al-Fatihah in the Holy Quran, “You (alone) we worship, and you (alone) we ask for help (for each and everything)”.
Bayero’s convoy then sped through the lit roads of the airport, reportedly heading towards the palace.
