The federal government has finalized arrangements to introduce electronic gates at three additional international airports in Nigeria.
The e-gates have been deployed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, and the installation at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport has been completed and is awaiting commissioning.
This development was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during an inspection of the User Acceptance Test (UAT) of the E-gate installed at Terminal 2 on Friday night. The minister was accompanied by the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap.
Tunji-Ojo noted that the installation process for the e-gates at MMIA will be fully completed, and the gates will be operational in the coming weeks.
He emphasized that introducing e-gates would enhance passengers’ airport experience and streamline facilitation processes.
