Championship club Plymouth Argyle has appointed former England captain Wayne Rooney as their new head coach.
Rooney, 38, replaces Ian Foster, who was dismissed on April 1 after poor results.
This marks Rooney’s first coaching role since his tenure at Birmingham City, where he was sacked on January 2 following a disappointing run that saw him lose nine out of 15 games in under three months.
Before his stint at Birmingham, Rooney spent 15 months as the head coach of DC United in the United States. He left the Washington-based team last October after failing to secure a spot in the Major League Soccer (MLS) playoffs.
