Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has reiterated his commitment to Nigeria’s progress.

He said that he is more desperate to see the country thrive but not desperate to become president.

In a recent interview on NoireTV-GlobalBlackTV, released on YouTube on Saturday, Obi responded to reports of a potential merger between Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I’m not desperate to be president, I’m desperate to see Nigeria work, especially for the poor people because we have a lot of potential,” Obi said.

On the issue of Atiku supporting his candidacy in the case of a merger, Obi commended him, saying: “I commend him and I’m grateful for his statements, especially where he said he will support me if it (the presidential ticket) goes to the South East.”

Obi expressed willingness to support a merger if it aims to improve Nigeria’s governance and unlock its potential for growth.

“If the merger is to be able to govern Nigeria properly, unlock all those things that will make Nigeria a better place, I’m for it,” he said.

Throughout the interview, Obi emphasized his priority is to see Nigeria work for all, especially the poor, and unlock its vast potential. His commitment to national growth and development remains unwavering.”
