Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT) has said there is hope for Nigerians.
Wike spoke in Abuja on Monday, after he inspected the Abuja light rail, in preparation for commercial inauguration on May 29.
The minister said Tinubu has done very well in FCT and the country in just one year, particularly in physical infrastructure and human capital development.
Wike said the president is committed to the dividends of democracy, adding that he has renewed the hope of Nigerians.
He urged Nigerians to continue to support Tinubu’s administration for optimum delivery.
“We are happy now. All our efforts have come to reality. Abuja residents are very happy. At the end of the day the Abuja Metro Station is available for Nigerians,” Wike said.
“For us at FCTA we are very happy that it is no longer a story, it is reality. It is a promise made and a promise fulfilled. Taken from the FCTA perspective, Mr. President has done very well. That is just the fiscal infrastructure and the human capital development.
“Nothing in this world can make you not get to your career progression. I’m sure the civil servants in FCT are happy that their hope has been rekindled, their hope has been brought back and that is what everybody wants. Mr. President has done very well. He has reassured Nigerians that he is committed to delivering the dividends of democracy.
The minister added that although there were some areas that needed to be looked into, one year was not enough for Tinubu to deliver 100 per cent expectations of Nigerians.
“There are some areas we have to still look into but one year is not enough for you to really expect 100 percent. But for what you have seen on the ground, there is hope for Nigerians.
Speaking on the inauguration of the projects, Wike said “We are good to go; just putting finishing touches.
“We have been to the Southern Parkway, and we are 100 per cent ready. Here in the Metro Line, we are also ready.
“We are happy that all our efforts have come to fruition.
“The residents are very happy and by the end of the day, the train services will be available for Nigerians.
“So, for us at FCTA, we are very very happy,” the minister said.
On May 23, Wike said the Abuja light rail will offer free rides for two months.
He said the free rides will commence on May 28, adding that it is part of the president’s renewed hope agenda for residents of the FCT.
