FG Pledges Support for IVM CNG-Powered Vehicles

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, recently toured the Innoson Vehicle Auto Assembly Plant. This plant is set to produce 30,000 units of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), and electric vehicles annually.

Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, Managing Director and CEO of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd (IVM), praised President Bola Tinubu’s CNG initiative, calling it “laudable.” He commended the president for the government’s decision to purchase CNG-powered vehicles following the removal of the petrol subsidy. Chukwuma also acknowledged the directive for government ministries and agencies to adopt this initiative.

Chukwuma expressed his confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, referencing his effective governance in Lagos State. He stated, “All these efforts at Innoson support the president’s vision of making Nigeria great. We believe the president will achieve this with collective support. He will soon commission our new CNG factory.”

Minister Ekpo assured that the federal government would ensure Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd (IVM) is included in future contracts under the Presidential CNG Initiative. He praised the Innoson Group Chairman for his investment in CNG vehicle production, aligning with President Tinubu’s goal to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the public.

Ekpo highlighted the significance of Innoson’s CNG vehicle production in transitioning from petrol to diesel. “We have a Nigerian making the nation proud in CNG vehicle production. I will brief the president on my visit to Innoson. The presidential committee on CNG and I will discuss further to reduce costs and add value to Nigeria. CNG vehicles should be widely patronized, and I believe the president will support this,” Ekpo stated.

He emphasized that Nigerians have a patriotic duty to support IVM and other locally made vehicles.
