One Kola Adebisi has allegedly beaten a woman to death in the ancient town of Ile-Ife, Osun State.
25-year-old Adebisi has since been arrested by the police and was arraigned before a magistrates’ court sitting in Ile-Ife on Friday.
The court ordered the remand of Adebisi who is standing trial for assault and homicide.
Adebisi was said to have committed the offence on April 15, 2024, at about 4:00 p.m. in the Ita-Apata area of Ile-Ife.
Magistrate Kikelomo Adebayo did not take Mr Adebisi’s plea on grounds that his court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the case.
She, therefore, ordered that he should be remanded in the Ile-Ife corrections centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The magistrate adjourned the matter until June 21 for mention, NAN reports.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that Adebusi beat Grace Omisakin to death.
He said the offence is punishable under section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.
Adebusu was represented in court by his counsel, Micheal Babatunde.
