- Jigawa PDP opposes delaying local government elections and altering laws to appoint caretaker committees in 27 local government areas
- PDP accuses APC of fearing elections due to its failures, leaving Jigawa’s people in poverty and hunger
The Jigawa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its strong opposition to any efforts to delay the local government elections in Jigawa State.
In a statement released on Sunday, PDP state chairman, Hon. Ali Diginsa, declared that the party would not permit the state House of Assembly to alter local government electoral laws to enable the appointment of caretaker committees in the 27 local government areas.
The PDP accused the APC of being nervous about the elections, claiming the party has failed the people of Jigawa, leaving them in poverty and hunger.
“Jigawa people are eager to give APC its scorecard, which is why the party and its leaders do not want the state local government election to occur,” the statement partly reads.
Attempts to reach the APC spokesman for comments were unsuccessful, as his number was unreachable at the time of reporting.
