One victim, a final-year engineering student, was attacked while preparing to ride to school for his final exam.

Another student was killed on Friday, a third on Saturday, both en route to exams at different campuses.

A suspected cult member also died, and a female student was injured by stray bullets. Edo State Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, confirmed the incidents, noting several arrests and the recovery of dangerous weapons.

Adegboye said, “We are actively dealing with the situation; we have made several arrests in relation to the cult violence. We have successfully detained some suspects, seized an AK-47, and arrested a suspect today. We currently have six individuals in custody, and our efforts will not diminish.

“We are determined to create an unwelcoming environment for criminals, especially in Auchi, where we recently intercepted two individuals carrying AK-47s and confiscated one of the weapons, dealing a blow to their activities.”
