Minimum Wage impasse: Tinubu meets with negotiating team after labour calls off strike

The Federal Government has intensified its effort to address the lingering minimum wage impasse that led to a nationwide strike on Monday.

This is as president Bola Tinubu met with the members of the Tripartite Committee on the New National Minimum Wage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday.

The meeting comes after the organised Labour comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, suspened the strike for one week it began on Monday.

The committee members were in the Presidential Villa to discuss with Tinubu on the move following the promise to pay workers over N60,000 as minimum wage.

Those present include Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company limited, CEO NNPCL, Melee Kyari.

The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, also attended the meeting
