Israel Ayeni, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) gubernatorial candidate for Ondo Poll has withdrawn his ambition.
The election is slated for November 16, 2024.
Ayeni, who emerged as the party’s flagbearer with 100 votes at the primary on April 26, announced his withdrawal in a letter made available to journalists on Wednesday in Akure.
According to the letter, Ayeni’s decision to step down is in the “best interest of our great party, NNPP.”
The NNPP State Chairman, Mr. Peter Olagookun, confirmed Ayeni’s withdrawal, stating that it was a voluntary decision to make way for a stronger candidacy.
Olagookun said that a substitution governorship primary would be held on Wednesday to select a new candidate.
