England manager Gareth Southgate made some notable exclusions from his 26-man squad for the European Championship on Thursday, leaving out defender Harry Maguire and midfielder Jack Grealish.

The squad features a strong group of attacking players, including Jude Bellingham, who contributed to Real Madrid’s Champions League victory, Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, Phil Foden, who had an impressive season with Manchester City, and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.

Injuries played a role in the defensive selections, with Manchester United’s Maguire, boasting 63 caps, being the highest-profile omission. Manchester City’s Grealish, with 36 international appearances, was also left out, along with James Maddison, Jarrad Branthwaite, James Trafford, Curtis Jones, and Jarrell Quansah.
