Police arrest Zamfara lawmaker, LG chairman, district head for banditry

Some influential and renowned figures have been apprehended in connection to banditry and other criminal activities in Zamfara State, the police have said.

Those arrested are a current member of the State House of Assembly, a district head, and a former local government chairman

The Zamfara State Commissioner of police, Muhammad Dalijan, made this known while hosting head of the counter terrorism unit at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Thomas Parker.

Dalijan, however, did mention the names of the suspects.

Dalijan implored the United Nations to help establish a forensic laboratory and help strengthen the Command in the area of training on investigation.

He disclosed that the level of crime has reduced in the state due to the efforts of security agencies, in collaboration with Community Protection Guards who have been battling terrorists migrating from Borno to Zamfara State.
