Why we won’t partake in Ebonyi local govt election – Labour Party

Labour Party

The Labour Party in Ebonyi State has hinted that it will likely not participate in the forthcoming local government election in the state.

This is as the party said that the local election is a one-party affair and falls short of every democratic tenet.

A chieftain of the party, Splendour Oko-Eze, made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen shortly after a meeting with party members at the San Diego Hotel in Abakaliki.

According to him, local government elections in Nigeria is a charade and Labour Party does not want to have anything to do with it.

According to him: “Local government election in Nigeria, as it is today, is known to be selection, not an election.

“Labour Party will not take part in such a selection activity. We in the National Transition Committee have already started the process of repositioning the party in the country and Ebonyi State is not left behind.”
