- Governor sympathized with EFCC on the damage done to their facilities during the raid
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has met with owners of night clubs in the state following the raid carried out the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), in the Akure the state capital.
During the meeting, the governor who urged the innocent persons arrested during the raid to seek legal redress, stated that the raid must have been carried out based on credible intelligence.
Aiyedatiwa, who disclosed that the EFCC had the mandate to arrest suspects on their radar, advised that those innocent of the alleged crimes should seek legal redress.
The governor sympathized with them on the damage done to their facilities during the raid.
The EFCC had stated that its operatives stormed the Signature and Abah night clubs to effect the arrest of 127 people allegedly holding ‘Yahoo parties’ and those who had been on the radar of the Commission.
According to Aiyedatiwa, there cannot be smoke without fire as regards the raid, urging the nightclub owners to compile a record of all their assets destroyed during the raids so they can use it to present genuine cases to the necessary authorities.
Adding that he had been in communication with top security agencies to get credible reports on the incident, the governor promised to intervene wherever necessary.
The club owners, who appreciated Aiyedatiwa for the timely meeting, said they were not part of those planning to hold a protest over the incident.
The owners of nightclubs and hotels affected by the raid also gave accounts of how their facilities were vandalised by operatives of the anti-graft agency.
