Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has expressed criticism towards the administration of President Bola Tinubu, stating that it is making numerous mistakes. Lamido suggested that Nigerians are anticipating the return of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to power due to what he described as the apparent failure of the APC government.
During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Monday, Lamido highlighted ongoing consultations among PDP stakeholders aimed at reconstituting the party to address the challenges faced by Nigerians.
Lamido remarked, “I am familiar with Tinubu’s track record. I knew him during the SDP era and as the governor of Lagos State when I served as the foreign minister. I am aware of his capabilities and limitations. For his benefit, Tinubu did not build Lagos; it was developed with Nigerian resources, including ports, airports, and bridges.”
He continued asserting that the current APC government, led by Tinubu, is faltering across various sectors. Lamido criticized the APC’s initial focus on gaining power in 2015 rather than addressing the nation’s needs, describing it as a fundamental flaw of the party.
Lamido conveyed optimism about the PDP’s potential to reclaim power, emphasizing Nigerians’ desire for a change in leadership. He also addressed the need for the PDP to undergo reconstitution and reconciliation to address internal issues and regain public trust.
Regarding the PDP’s future, Lamido stressed the importance of merging factions within the party and reconciling disgruntled members, emphasizing that the party belongs to all Nigerians, not specific individuals or groups.
