- The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) criticizes the APC for managing Nigeria’s affairs, citing widespread challenges
- CUPP spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo, expresses concern over economic hardship, social challenges, and the disconnect between leaders and citizens
The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has strongly criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for managing the nation’s affairs.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo, the coalition lamented that Nigerians have little to celebrate on Democracy Day.
“While June 12th holds historical significance in Nigeria’s political landscape, symbolizing a pivotal moment that resonated deeply within the nation, the hope it once embodied has dwindled. Democracy loses its essence when it fails to deliver tangible benefits to the people,” remarked Adebayo.
He highlighted the disconnect between those in power and the plight of ordinary citizens, citing widespread economic hardship and social challenges. “Today, on what should be our Democracy Day, many Nigerians struggle to provide necessities for their families, afford education, or secure decent housing. Formal and informal businesses are collapsing, and the country’s currency remains unstable,” he stated.
Adebayo expressed concern over the soaring inflation rate, escalating insecurity, and exponential rise in poverty. He attributed these challenges to the APC-led administration’s misguided policies, particularly the untimely removal of fuel subsidies.
“The suffering and regression in the country can be traced back to the anti-people policies of the administration. Evidently, the president was ill-prepared to govern and has failed to address the socio-economic woes facing Nigerians. Instead of alleviating the people’s suffering, the administration has exacerbated it,” Adebayo asserted.
The statement underscores many Nigerians’ disillusionment and calls for urgent action to address the country’s pressing issues.
