Edo police ban officers from using air-conditioners, refrigerators in offices

The Edo State Police Command has issued a directive prohibiting officers below the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police from using air-conditioning units or refrigerators in their offices.

The directive, dated June 6, 2024, was contained in a circular that applies to all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the state.

The statement further instructed that all officers below the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) are to immediately disconnect ACs and refrigerators from their offices.

When the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Edo State Command, Chidi Nwabuzo was contacted, he said the circular was “strictly an internal matter.”

He said, “Please that is not a news item, it is purely an internal item. What is newsworthy about the circular?”
