LP federal lawmaker empowers Abia constituents with cassava stems,seedlings

  • The lawmaker stated that he undertook this action to encourage his constituents to return to farming

Ginger Onwusibe, the representative for the Isialangwa North and South constituency in Abia State at the National Assembly, has distributed cassava stems, yam, and other seedlings to his constituents.

A member of the Labour Party, Onwusibe announced this initiative on his verified Facebook page to mark his first anniversary in office.

The lawmaker stated that he undertook this action to encourage his constituents to return to farming.

He posted, “Today, at the Amassa Ntigha Mini Stadium built by my humble self, we trained more than 600 constituents drawn from Umuoha, Ngwa Ukwu and Ntigha wards of Isiala Ngwa North Local Government.

“We trained them on the modern Agricultural Practices and gave them improved seedlings like, Palm, tomatoes, paper, okra, cucumber, maize,yam, etc and cassava stems, yam they were also given fertilizer.

“These improved seedlings and stems were sourced outside our constituency, the essence of this program is to encourage our people to return back to farming and domesticate these improved seedlings and stems in our constituency.

“By my assessment it was successful and the participants are happy, our target is 2000 participants in Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Governments.”
