Three killed as armed robbers attack FCT bank

The incident began around 6 pm when the robbers exited a vehicle and opened fire on a nearby police station

On Thursday evening, armed robbers attacked a bank complex in the Abaji Area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), killing a policeman and wounding a bank security guard.

The incident began around 6 pm when the robbers exited a vehicle and opened fire on a nearby police station.

After killing an officer, they proceeded to the bank, firing sporadically.

A guard was shot while trying to flee the bank premises. The robbers then attempted to break into the bank’s strong room but were unsuccessful.

Police mobilized quickly and were joined by soldiers and vigilantes, engaging the robbers in a shootout and killing two of them.

Angry residents captured one of the robbers and set him on fire, according to a local witness.

The FCT Police Command confirmed the incident and has deployed anti-robbery squad operatives and local security personnel to pursue the remaining robbers.
