- Senator Adams Oshiomhole pledged to secure victory for APC in the upcoming governorship election, vowing full commitment to campaign efforts
- He emphasized the importance of collective action among party members at all levels to ensure success under Senator Monday Okpebholo’s leadership
Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ex-governor of Edo State, has pledged to secure the party’s victory in the upcoming September 21 governorship election.
Senator Oshiomhole, who currently represents Edo North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, made this commitment while inaugurating the APC Campaign Council for the election.
“I am prepared to do whatever it takes, even if it means taking on the role of a sweeper, to ensure Senator Monday Okpebholo is elected governor,” Senator Oshiomhole declared.
He emphasized the collective effort required from all APC members and supporters to achieve genuine change under Senator Okpebholo’s leadership.
“Titles are irrelevant; every party member is a campaigner. We must all strive to secure victories in our units, wards, local governments, and the entire state. We must engage with our neighbours and communities from door to door,” Senator Oshiomhole urged.
He called on all Edo residents affected by issues such as flooding and inadequate school facilities to unite and support the APC’s quest for positive change.
“Come September 21, there will be a democratic change at Osadebe Avenue, and APC will democratically take over Edo State,” Senator Oshiomhole affirmed.
Meanwhile, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, the Director General of the Campaign Council, encouraged party members to reconcile their differences and prioritize hard work over financial resources in their bid for victory.
Earlier, APC State Chairman Jarrett Tenebe highlighted the legacies of past Edo governors known for good governance and expressed disappointment in Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration, citing issues like recurrent flooding in Benin City during rainy seasons.
Tenebe expressed confidence in Senator Urhoghide’s leadership of the campaign council and predicted a successful outcome for the APC in the forthcoming election.
