A yet-to-be-ascertained number of persons have been killed in a fresh attack on a village by suspected bandits in Sokoto State.
Many locals were also abducted during the attack on Dudun Doki village in Gwadabawa local government area of the north west state.
Locals said the attackers invaded the village at around 1:30 am in the early hours of Sunday.
The victims included men, women, and children, who were caught off guard by the sudden attack.
Sokoto state has been the hotbed of violent attacks and wanton killings for months on end.
In March this year, gunmen, suspected to be bandits, launched two devastating separate attacks on local government areas, three persons were killed and 16 other individuals were abducted including a woman and 15 Tsangaya students.
The first attack occurred in Turba village, Isa local government area, where the gunmen claimed the life of a village head and two others.
In a separate incident, 15 students of Gidan Bakuso Tsangaya School in Gada local government area were kidnapped.
