Gunmen attack Anambra community, kill vigilante, injure others

At least one person was killed when a clutch of gunmen attacked  Nnewi in Nigeria’s south east state of Anambra.

Many were also injured during the attack on the industrial city by the unidentified armed men on Monday.

It is not immediately clear if the gunmen were members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, but the attack happened on a Monday, which is considered a sit-at-home day in the South East.

A source said the gunmen invaded the city, and attacked members of the local vigilante, killing one of them one of them who was simply identified as ‘commander’.

“The windscreen of the vehicle used by the vigilante operatives was shattered. Many people have been rushed to the hospitals,” the source said.
