Delta man lynched to death over missing phone later found with daughter of accuser

The victim’s identity was not revealed

SP Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, has revealed the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was allegedly beaten by members of a local security watch group.

The incident occurred over a missing phone, which was later discovered to be with the daughter of the accuser.

According to Edafe via a post on X on Tuesday, “Someone was accused of stealing a phone, a member of Anioma Security Watch mobilised his colleagues to beat him up till he died. They ran away after killing him.”

However, Edafe added, “Guess what? The phone was found with the daughter of the woman who raised the alarm.”

Edafe’s post was aimed at creating awareness towards putting an end to jungle justice as the PPRO posted a picture with the written words, “Red card to jungle justice.”

However, Edafe did not release the victim’s identity or indicate if any arrests had been made in connection with the killing.
