- The NFF has officially accepted Finidi George’s resignation as the coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles team
- Finidi George resigned due to the appointment of a foreign technical adviser to oversee his coaching responsibilities
The executive committee of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has officially accepted Finidi George’s resignation as coach of the Super Eagles.
Initially, the NFF hesitated to accept Finidi’s resignation because his letter was unsigned. However, the resignation letter has now been signed and circulated among all members of the executive committee for a decision, allowing the coach to proceed as he wishes. As reported by ScoreNigeria.com, an official statement confirming this decision was expected after the Sallah holidays.
Finidi George decided to resign following the NFF’s decision to appoint a foreign technical adviser who would oversee his work as head coach.
In his letter addressed to NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, Finidi stated that, given the changes made to the Super Eagles’ technical crew, which he had personally assembled, he has chosen to step down from his role as head coach.
The NFF has announced plans to appoint a new coach before the start of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in the first week of September.
