In Ekiti State, one Ayegbusi Ojo has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a minor.

Ojo was convicted and sentenced by a High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.

He was sentenced on one count charge of rape by Justice J.O. Adeyeye on Wednesday.

To support and prove his case, the Ekiti State Director of Public Prosecutions Julius Ajibare called five witnesses and tendered three exhibits.

He told the court that the victim was returning from school when the convict accosted her, lured her into his room and defiled her.

The girl could not tell anybody of the heinous act but her father found out when the girl collapsed at home, bleeding from her private part.

She was rushed to the hospital after which the convict was arrested and charged in court.

Ojo was charged with the offence of rape contrary to Section 31 (2) of the Child’s Rights Law, Cap C7 Laws of Ekiti State 2012.

The judge held that the prosecution proved the offence of rape against the defendant beyond reasonable doubt.

He consequently convicted the defendant and sentenced him to life imprisonment
